The position of a particle is moving along the x-axis depends on the time according to the equation :
x = (6 m/s 2 )t 2 – (1 m/s 3 )t 3 Where x is in metre and t in seconds.
(i) Time at which velocity of the particle is maximum along positive direction of x-axis is –

Ans.
(i)
Sol. x = 6t 2 – t 3
= v = 12 t – 3t
2
=
= a= 12 – 6t
= 0 for v to be maximum
12 – 6 t ⇒ t = 2 s
(ii)
Sol. (position of particle)
x 3 = 25 m (at t = 3 s)
x 4 = 32 m (at t = 4 s)
x 5 = 27 m (at t = 5 s)
(iii)
Sol. x 0 = 0, x 4 = 32 m, x 6 = 0
Total distance travelled = 32 m + 32 m
= 64 m
Average speed =
=
=
m/s
